Drama
Caldwell’s drama program has grown tremendously over the past few years, with drama being offered as an elective to Dialectic and Rhetoric students, as well as two or three school productions a year.
The drama elective is separate from the drama productions, giving students the opportunity to learn about drama and experiment with acting skills. The drama elective is offered as an introductory course in the Dialectic and Rhetoric school and an Advanced Drama course offered at the Rhetoric level for students with more drama experience. The drama student is lead through many aspects of drama including acting, improvisation, theater history, technical theater, backstage skills, and more. Opportunities are afforded each student to discover and develop their skills in a classroom setting.
Caldwell's drama productions are open to all Dialectic and Rhetoric students. Auditions are held each year and rehearsals are after school. Past productions include Pride and Prejudice, The Sleeping Beauty of Loreland, Les Miserables, as well as Jane Eyre, Antigone, and Much Ado About Nothing. The drama productions provide many opportunities of involvement for the Caldwell community of students and families, including set design, costuming, advertising, ticket sales, acting, back stage work, and sound and lighting.
