Grammar Fine Arts
In Caldwell's grammar music curriculum students study the fundamentals of reading and making music. They also learn how to make music with their voices, recorders, Orff instruments and express music through movement. Younger children learn that God created unique individuals and that He gave us all a unique voice. Students learn to use their voices correctly, play musical play- party/circle games, and learn steady beat and rhythm through various activities. Students learn to recognize great works of the masters as well as distinguish types of music, time periods, and identify instrumental sounds. Students in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to sing in the Grammar Choir which meets one afternoon a week after school. Students in grades 4 and 5 have the opportunity to participate in the Grammar Band with individual and group instruction regularly offered after school.
The students in the grammar art program learn to respect their God-given abilities that demonstrate the uniqueness of each person. They learn that with practice and an understanding of basic shapes and techniques, they can become artists in their own right.
